Turnweft

Ask other coding agents to work from Claude Code or Codex, and continue the same session later.

01The project

Turnweft is an open-source tool that lets you ask Dim, Droid, Grok, OpenCode, and agy to review code, make changes, or answer questions from Claude Code or Codex. The other agent works in your project folder and returns its answer to your conversation. You can come back later and continue the same agent session.

02The problem

Working with several coding agents often means copying code and context between tools, moving changes between folders, and explaining earlier work again in a new chat. Separate plugins also bring different ways of working.

03Key decisions

Stay in Claude Code or Codex and name the agent and task in ordinary language. Turnweft starts that agent in your project, brings the answer back, and lets you follow up in the same agent session. You can check task progress and cancel a running task.

04My contribution

  • Claude Code and Codex plugins that connect to Dim, Droid, Grok, OpenCode, and agy.
  • Agent sessions you can continue later, including after an idle agent has been stopped.
  • Background tasks with progress checks and cancellation.

  • Results that include the agent's answer and the files that changed during the task.

05Design in practice

Getting started

You need macOS, Node.js 22.13 or later, and the command-line tool for each agent you want to use, already installed and signed in.

Run npm install -g turnweft, then install the Turnweft plugin for Claude Code or Codex using the README instructions. Open a new conversation after installation; restart Codex first if you use it.

Try asking: 'Ask Droid to explain what this project does, in five bullet points.' If a permission dialog appears, review what the agent will be allowed to do and choose whether to allow it.

Permissions and result checks

Turnweft uses each agent's own permission modes. It cannot guarantee read-only execution for Grok. The host assistant must check the returned work; an agent's completion message alone is not verification.

Earlier plugins

Turnweft grew out of six plugins: opencode-plugin-cc, grok-plugin-cc, and agy-plugin-cc for Claude Code, and opencode-plugin-codex, grok-plugin-codex, and agy-plugin-codex for Codex. They were archived on 2026-10-05 and remain readable on GitHub.

06Outcome and current stage

Available on GitHub and npm; connects Claude Code and Codex with five coding agents.

Technical details & evidence

Role · Sole developer — product design, implementation, Claude Code and Codex plugins, and documentation

  • A TypeScript/Node.js CLI distributed as the turnweft npm package supplies the shared runtime; two lightweight plugins register its MCP tools in Claude Code and Codex.
  • SQLite stores session and job state. Dim, Droid, Grok and OpenCode connect through ACP; agy uses its native stream-json interface.
  • Sessions resume the agent's native conversation. Background jobs support progress checks and cancellation, with sequential writes per project. Changed-file reports compare Git snapshots; they do not attribute changes to a particular writer.
